Wushu Stars Dazzle On Asian Stage
1st Wushu Taolu Asian Cup & 2nd Wushu Sanda Asian Cup, Asian Juniors Wushu Championship
Singapore Sports School’s past and present student-athletes shone on the continental stage, delivering stellar performances at the 1st Wushu Taolu Asian Cup & 2nd Wushu Sanda Asian Cup in Jilin, China.
Kassandra Ong Xue Ling, a third-year student-athlete from the Diploma in Business Studies programme, clinched gold in the Women’s Nangun event with a powerful and crowd-pleasing routine that earned her a top score of 9.640.
Alumna Zeanne Law Zhi Ning displayed finesse and grace in her signature Women’s Taijiquan, topping the charts with a score of 9.693 to secure another gold for Singapore. Zeanne also teamed up with fellow alumnus Chan Jun Kai in the Pair Taijiquan event, where they earned a joint silver medal with a score of 9.653, tying with Malaysia and finishing behind a strong Japanese pair.
Adding to the medal tally, Zoe Tan Ziyi placed 3rd in Women’s Daoshu and came in 4th in Women’s Gunshu.
With 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze, Team Singapore ranked 3rd overall, placing behind regional powerhouses China and Hong Kong, and emerged as the top-performing Southeast Asian nation.
Meanwhile, rising stars also made their mark at the Asian Juniors Wushu Championship, which was held from 23 to 30 July in Jiangyin, China.

Charlotte Ng Le Ting from Diploma in Business delivered a graceful and powerful performance in the Girls Taijiquan A, scoring 9.410 to clinch the silver medal out of 12 competitors. She also demonstrated strength and poise in the Girls Group A Taijishan, earning bronze with a score of 9.353.
Chua Xin Yun from IBDP, Year 5, also did well, earning a silver in Boys’ Qiangshu A with a score of 9.320. He also clinched bronze medals in Boys’ Changquan A, scoring 9.403 and Boys’ Group A Jianshu with a score of 9.390.
