Shine Bright Like Our Shuttlers

Papago International Youth Team 2024, SBH Challenge 2024, Singapore Sports Hub National Open Championships

Our talented shuttlers achieved remarkable feats on the badminton court in not just one but three competitions – Papago International Youth Team 2024, SBH Challenge 2024 and the Singapore Sports Hub National Open Championships.

The Papago International Youth Team 2024 competition was held at the Singapore Sports School Badminton Hall from 2 to 4 February 2024. Our representatives from the Junior Performance Programme (JPP) team showcased exceptional teamwork and camaraderie throughout the event.

The competition introduced a new singles and doubles match team format, challenging our players to urge each other and aim for a desirable team result. Despite facing stiff competition from badminton powerhouses like China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Malaysia, our talented shuttlers not only held their own but excelled.

Our shuttlers can stand proud after securing a total of 5 medals, including the Under-17 Boys' Team gold medal won by Angus Tee Kai Ze, Tan Wei Da, Edmund Tan Xuan De, and Tai Jong Waa. Beyond the medals, each player embraced the experience and personal growth gained from this highly competitive event.

In the SBH Challenge 2024 held from 17 to 24 February 2024, Maegan Tan took full control of her games as she triumphed in the Under-15 Girls’ Singles event. In the Under-19 Girls’ Doubles event, Aaliyah Zakaria and Amber Lim showcased seamless synergy as they worked past their competitors to claim the top position.

The Singapore Sports Hub National Open Championships was played concurrently from 18 to 24 February 2024 and our shuttlers continued to shine. Alumna Lim Ming Hui smashed her way to the top in the Women’s Singles event. Ming Hui then paired up with her partner Liang Yun to win the Women’s Doubles event over another ace doubles pairing Elsa Lai and alumna Lim Su Qi who settled for a second-place finish. Amber Lim and Andrea Jacqui Tay finished close in joint third for the same event. Alumni Junsuke Kubo and Howin Wong showed a promising partnership by clinching the top spot in the Men’s Doubles event. Lastly, In the Mixed Doubles finals, alumna Elaine Chua paired up with Bimo Adi Prakoso and chiselled out a win over Elsa Lai and Johann Prajogo.

The collective achievements of our shuttlers reflect their dedication, skill, and sportsmanship. Congratulations to our talented student-athletes on their smashing performances!
