Rising to the Challenge at NSG
National School Games: Bowling, Shooting, Water Polo ‘C’ Division
The National School Games ‘C’ Division brought out the best in our younger student-athletes, as they stepped up to the challenge across the bowling lanes, shooting range and water polo pool. With titles won, podium places secured and a hard-fought run to the final, the campaign was a strong display of composure, teamwork and resilience under pressure. Whether it was making every pin count, staying composed under pressure or battling through successive matches in the pool, our bowlers, shooters and water polo players rose to the challenge and returned with plenty to celebrate.

Bowling
Cheong Kah Yan, Eng Yi Zhen, Celeste Kwek and Gwendolyn Lee combined to clinch gold in the Girls’ Team event, giving Sports School one of the highlights of its campaign. There was more success for Celeste and Yi Zhen, who joined forces in the Girls’ Doubles to secure a bronze medal.
Beyond the individual events, every performance contributed towards the Overall Divisional standings. Celeste, Yi Zhen, Gwendolyn, Kah Yan, Ng Lei En, Raelene Poh Lin En and Shantelle Ang Zi Xi combined their efforts to help Sports School finish 3rd in the Girls’ Overall Divisional standings.
The result also marked progress from the school’s 2024 ‘C’ Division campaign, when the girls finished 4th in the quartet event and 3rd overall. This time, they maintained their place among the top three schools while adding a team gold and doubles bronze to their haul.
The boys also battled hard throughout the competition. Kyan Ng, Alston Tan, Cohen Asher Lim, Chin Jun Ming, Javier Chua, Wilshere Ng and Zacchaeus Ng stayed competitive across the campaign to finish a commendable 4th overall.

Shooting
Lovelyn Zheng zeroed in on success in the 10m Air Rifle Girls’ Individual event, taking the title ahead of fellow Sports School shooter Belinda Lim, who secured silver. Their one-two finish provided a strong foundation for the team’s overall success. The girls also produced strong performances in the 10m Air Pistol Individual event. Cayla Tan earned bronze, while Teng Wen Hui finished closely behind in 4th place.
On the boys’ side, Jadon Wong also placed among the leading competitors, finishing 4th in the 10m Air Pistol Individual event.

Water Polo
Faced with tough opposition along the way, the team displayed resilience and a strong collective spirit to keep progressing through the competition. Their determination carried them all the way to the championship match, where they eventually finished as runners-up. While the gold medal proved just out of reach, reaching the final represented another encouraging result for Sports School’s developing water polo programme.
It also continued a strong year for Sports School water polo. Earlier in the season, five student-athletes were part of the combined Singapore Sports School-Outram Secondary School side that captured the 2026 ‘B’ Division title, holding off ACS (Independent) 11-9 in the final.
For the younger ‘C’ Division players, their run to the final offered valuable competitive experience and another important step in their development.
For many of our younger student-athletes, the ‘C’ Division NSG is an important stage in their development, providing opportunities to experience pressure, compete for their school and learn what it means to contribute to a team. There were champions, podium finishes and near misses, but there was also plenty of fight.
