spexEducation Undergraduate Scholarship


Launched in 2024 in partnership with the President's Challenge, the spexEducation Undergraduate Scholarship (spexEd UGS) aims to 
  1. enhance support for athletes seeking to balance their sporting aspirations with tertiary education, 
  2. provide greater assurance to athletes who choose to prioritise their sporting careers before pursuing academic qualifications and 
  3. strengthen the sport sector's capabilities by encouraging athletes to pursue sports-related university courses.

Offered in two distinct pathways:
  • Dual Career Track - comprehensive support for current TeamSG athletes pursuing concurrent sports and academic excellence.
  • New Career Track - dedicated assistance for those prioritising their sporting careers before transitioning to higher education after their competitive career.

What’s in It for You?

You can choose either of the two tracks available below:

Tracks Description
Dual Career Balance your sporting career with university studies, giving you the flexibility to excel in both arenas. Pursue and achieve both sport and studies with support and flexibility at athlete-friendly universities to maintain your competitive training edge.
New Career Focus on your athletic peak years now, knowing your education pathway remains secure when you are ready. Pursue sport first, and secure financial support for your deferred university education after retirement.

Key Information

  1. Applications are only open to spexScholars and spexPotential athletes
  2. Only athletes pursing their first undergraduate degree are eligible to apply, either planning to begin their undergraduate studies, or studying up to their penultimate year of studies
  3. Application Opens: 1 September 2026, 1000hrs
  4. Application Closes: 30 September 2026, 1700hrs
  5. You can apply for either of these two tracks:
    • Dual Career
    • New Career
