A Homecoming with the Lions

Our student-athletes gained valuable insights into the journey of a national footballer during a special assembly engagement with the Singapore National Football Team.

We welcomed home alumni and current national footballers Joel Chew and Syazwan Buhari on 12 October 2026. Joining them was Singapore National Football Team Head Coach Gavin Lee, who offered his perspectives on the demands and responsibilities of competing at the highest level.

During the engaging session, the trio shared personal experiences from their football journeys, reflecting on the challenges of overcoming injuries, managing setbacks and the immense pride of wearing the Singapore jersey. Their stories gave student-athletes a glimpse into the commitment, discipline and perseverance required to represent the nation.

Adding to the experience was an interactive display showcasing the rich history of Singapore football, including the national team's achievements and memorable milestones over the years. The exhibition provided student-athletes with an opportunity to learn more about the Lions' legacy and the footballers who have helped shape it.

For our aspiring athletes, the session was more than an opportunity to meet national footballers. It was a chance to learn from those who have walked a similar path, reinforcing the importance of staying committed to their sporting ambitions and taking pride in the opportunity to represent Singapore.
