Making Waves and Breaking Records at National Championships

Swimming: 12th Singapore National Swimming Championships

Our swimmers turned up the pace at the 12th Singapore National Swimming Championships, powering through two days of fierce competition at the OCBC Aquatic Centre from 31 October to 1 November 2026. Leading the charge was Reagan Cheng, who stormed to record-breaking glory as the team rode a wave of success to an impressive 12-medal haul – 5 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals.

Reagan delivered a standout performance in the Men’s 200m Individual Medley, clocking a blistering 1:57.05s to rewrite both the National Record and Meet Record. He was equally dominant in the backstroke events, claiming gold in the Men’s 100m Backstroke before shattering the Meet Record twice in the Men’s 200m Backstroke. After setting a new benchmark of 1:57.32s in the heats, he returned to the pool for the final and raised the bar even higher with 1:57.04s to secure gold. He also clinched silver in the Men’s 200m Breaststroke, capping a remarkable championship campaign.

Alumnus Sage Tan, who trains at Sports School, also made waves, powering to gold in both the Men’s 100m Butterfly and 100m Freestyle. He added a bronze medal in the Men’s 100m Individual Medley to round off an impressive three-medal haul.

The team’s momentum continued with Vivienne Chew securing silver in the Women’s 100m Breaststroke and bronze in the 50m Breaststroke. Ian Leong claimed bronze in the Men’s 200m Freestyle, while alumnus Taka Leong earned bronze in the Men’s 200m Breaststroke. Macayla Xia completed the medal tally with bronze in the Women’s 200m Individual Medley.

The team’s impressive 12-medal haul reflects our swimmers’ hard work, determination and competitive spirit, with each student-athlete stepping up to the challenge and delivering when it mattered.
