29th Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships 2025, China Table Tennis Super League

Our paddlers served up remarkable teamwork and determination at the 29th Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships 2025 held from 26 June to 2 July 2025 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Secondary 3 student-athletes Loy Ming Yong and Janelle Chiang, alongside teammates Chong Zi Sian and Kayleigh Mae Ng, rallied hard against Asia’s best to bring home a well-deserved joint-bronze in the U15 Girls’ Team event.
The competitive action commenced on 27 June 2025, with the Singapore team facing off Uzbekistan in the Round of 16. The team cruised into the quarterfinals after a 3-1 victory and continued their winning streak against Thailand. With another 3-1 victory, they secured their spot in the semi-finals, where they put up a strong fight against South Korea. The team eventually fell to their strong opponent and settled for a bronze medal.
Meanwhile, post-secondary student-athlete Izaac Quek also made headlines by becoming the first local-born Singapore player to join the China Table Tennis Super League. Featuring China’s best current players, up-and-coming starlets and retired legends, the China Table Tennis Super League is widely regarded as the sport’s most competitive league.
Following his stint with Anhui Zhongcheng, he made his debut in the second stage from 25 to 28 July 2025, followed by the third stage in Xinjiang, China from 29 August to 1 September 2025. The best teams will play in the finals from 26 to 28 December in Nanjing.
The Diploma in Business Studies Year 2 student-athlete, who has played in leagues in India, France and Spain, shared in an interview with The Straits Times: “This is the best league in the world and not everyone gets to play in it, so I want to make full use of this stint to learn as much as I can from the best players in the world.”
