Taekwondo Grand Slam Youth League – Singapore 2025, MBW International Taekwondo Championships 2025, 21st ICTO Taekwondo Championships


Taekwondo exponents Gwen Koh Qi En and Ethan Liow Yong En had a medal-filled August on both the local and international stage.

Following the Asian Junior Games and Pesta Sukan 2025 in early August, where Gwen earned a gold medal, she continued her strong form at the Taekwondo Grand Slam Youth League – Singapore 2025, held from 16 to 17 August at D’Marquee. The Secondary 4 student-athlete clinched gold in the Poomsae Cadet B Female Black Belt Individual category.

She carried her momentum to the 21st ICTO Taekwondo Championships in Nha Trang, Vietnam, on 22 August. Competing in the U18 division, Gwen earned bronze in the Individual event, bronze in the Pair event and capped off her campaign with a silver in the Female Team event.

Secondary 2 student-athlete Ethan Liow Yong En also competed in the ICTO Championships. Ethan participated in the Poomsae Cadet Male Team event, where they earned a silver medal, narrowly missing gold by just 0.4 points against Hong Kong.

Earlier, Ethan represented Singapore at the MBW International Taekwondo Championships 2025 from 15 to 17 August at the Nilai Indoor Stadium @ N9 Arena in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. He earned a bronze medal in the Elite Poomsae Male Individual (Cadet) category after powering through three rounds to reach the semifinals, missing the final by just 0.3 points. In the Mixed Pair (Cadet) event, he put up a strong fight before bowing out in the Round of 16 against a Thai club.
