ROAR For Sportsmanship And Leadership
ROAR Awards (July 2025)
Five student-athletes were presented ROAR Awards for the month of July in recognition of their exemplary behaviour. These awards celebrate individuals who serve as role models through their actions and dedication.

Alexa Valera Defries from the Track and Field Academy and Del Rosario Juan Matteo from the Football Academy, who were selected as the Best Overall Female and Male Camper respectively during the Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) Camp for Secondary 2 student-athletes, received ROAR Awards. Chosen by the team of OBS instructors, they demonstrated the 21st century competencies of critical and adaptive thinking, effective communication, collaborative spirit, and proficient information skills. Their leadership and attitude made them role models for their peers.
Also, Jessie Tan Qian Chi from the Track and Field Academy received a ROAR Award for her sportsmanship and teamwork. When a technical glitch voided her 200m result at the Thailand Sports School Games, she reran the race without complaint and delivered a strong performance. After completing all seven events, she earned a hard-won bronze medal. Despite her fatigue, she stepped up for the 4×100m and 4×400m relays to support injured teammates, demonstrating resilience and a team-first spirit.
Footballer Muhammad Aaryan Ishmael Erfandy and wrestler Heba Lutfina Mohammed Jbour were recognised for their excellent work as lead student facilitators for the Batik Art Workshop, which introduced Malay heritage to visiting staff and students from Kochi Prefecture, Japan. Calm, well-prepared, and respectful, they provided clear and inclusive guidance that transformed classroom knowledge into a rich, hands-on cross-cultural experience. The session received unanimous positive feedback, with all participants praising the facilitators and expressing that they would recommend the workshop.
