Secondary 1 footballer Nufah Asyura Mohamad Hisham was conferred the Lee Kuan Yew Award for All-Round Excellence at the Ministry of Education’s Special Awards Presentation Ceremony on 26 August 2025.

Nufah, a former Jurong Primary School student, was one of only 12 recipients in the primary school category to receive the accolade this year. The Lee Kuan Yew Award for All-Round Excellence is one of MOE’s most prestigious awards, given to well-rounded students who demonstrate outstanding performance in both academic and non-academic areas, including leadership, character, and commitment to co-curricular activities.

An active child since young, Nufah began playing football at ActiveSG Jurong East Centre at the age of six, inspired by her brother, who now plays in Albirex Niigata’s U17 team. Her potential was soon recognised, and she joined the National Development Centre in 2023 when she was in Primary 5. Beyond football, she also displayed versatility in sports, representing Jurong Primary School in both Track and Field and Floorball.

Nufah was both surprised and humbled by the news of her win. “I was caught off guard. I feel very grateful and honoured to be receiving this prestigious award. I am thankful to my parents, teachers, coaches, and those who have supported my football journey thus far for providing me with such rewarding experiences, and I am glad I am able to make them proud.”
