Shuttlers on Fire at National Open Championships
Badminton: National Open Badminton Championships
The Badminton National Open Championships proved to be a rewarding outing for both current and alumni, who delivered composed performances across singles and doubles events. They stacked podium finishes and showed the depth of the national badminton pathway.
In the Women’s Singles, Jaslyn Hooi Yue Yann emerged as champion after a strong run through the draw. She was joined on the podium by fellow alumna Megan Lee Xinyi, who finished second, while Aaliyah Zakaria secured a joint-third placing. Aaliyah also doubled her success in the Women’s Doubles, claiming silver alongside Chia Xin Ying, while Andrea Jacqui Tay and Katie Teo finished joint-third.
The Men’s Singles podium was similarly packed with familiar names. Marcus Phil Lau Jun Hui took top honours, with Tee Kai Ze finishing second. Joint third placings went to Remus Ng and Ryan Tan Rui Yang, rounding off a strong showing in the singles events.
In the Men’s Doubles, Wesley Koh Eng Keat and Junsuke Kubo clinched the championship title after a series of assured performances. Howin Wong Jia Hao and Donovan Willard Wee finished second, while Nge Joo Jin earned a joint-third placing with his partner Kriston Choo Jun Hao.
Donovan continued his fine form in the Mixed Doubles, where he captured the championship title with partner Jin Yujia. Nge Joo Jin returned to the podium again with a second-place finish alongside Li Zhenghong, while Nicholas Kat Zi Shun and Katie Teo rounded out the event with a joint third placing.
