Fencers And Netballers Champion For Sport

Values in Action: Fencing and Netball Academy

Fencing Academy

This April, our fencers took the lead in organising the North West CDC Fencing Experience and Workshops, designed to spark curiosity and inspire young minds from Greenwood, Woodlands, Woodgrove, and Huamin Primary Schools on 4, 8, 11, and 15 April 2025 respectively.

Through hands-on, interactive sessions, primary students were introduced to the fundamentals of fencing and experienced the excitement of the sport first-hand. From footwork to basic techniques, the workshops offered a thrilling glimpse into the world of fencing.

“As one of the instructors, I had an amazing time teaching these young enthusiasts the basics of fencing! It was incredible to see their excitement and eagerness to learn. Watching them pick up their fencing skills was truly rewarding, and I'm so proud of our fencers for sharing their passion with the next generation. Moments like these remind me of the impact we can have on our community and the joy of passing on our love for the sport,” shared Secondary 3 fencer Cameron Alexander Tan Soliano.

Netball Academy

On 24 April 2025, our netballers brought the energy and excitement of the game to Ahmad Ibrahim Primary School as part of the North West CDC Netball Experience. The event gave young students a lively introduction to netball, letting them explore the sport’s fast-paced footwork, sharp passes, and the teamwork that brings it all together.

Secondary 3 netballer, Della Zuliyah Zulkifli, who was part of the coaching team was thrilled to guide the bright-eyed beginners through their first pivots, passes, and shots.

She shared: “From mastering pivots and shooting techniques to working together in mini games, their enthusiasm was infectious. It was truly heartening to see how quickly they picked up the basics, and even more so, how much joy they found in the process. They have also shown that netball is a game that can be enjoyed by all, regardless of age, gender, size, or physicality – truly a sport that embraces inclusivity and unity.”

“I am also incredibly proud of my fellow netballers for being such passionate role models and for helping to bring this project to life. Experiences like this remind us of sport’s power to inspire, connect, and create lasting memories – showing just how meaningful it is to share netball with the next generation,” said Della.
