On the final day of the month-long Hari Raya celebrations on 28 April 2025, Singapore Sports School celebrated the festival with a vibrant cultural experience! During assembly, student-athletes had the chance to explore three traditional activities, guided by passionate docents.The celebrations continued from 29 April to 2 May 2025 with an engaging pop-up exhibition at The Arena, allowing student-athletes and staff to learn more about the richness of Malay culture.
Student-athletes were treated to a flavourful lunch featuring a sumptuous spread of traditional Malay dishes. Crowd favourites like Nasi Kerabu, Ayam Penyet, Lontong, and more delighted everyone’s taste buds!

Creativity was in the air during assembly as student-athletes crafted adorable "kueh-kueh" out of plasticine. Many of the kueh tarts looked so realistic that they left everyone craving the real thing!

Do you know what a kain samping is and how it’s worn? Our student-athletes discovered the significance of this traditional cloth, learning about the different ways it is tied and worn depending on the occasion and group. Trying to tie it themselves, they quickly realised it was trickier than it looked!
Student-athletes also learned to make their own “green packets” using batik-designed paper, adding a personal and artistic touch to a cherished festive tradition.

The journey into Malay culture continued through a captivating pop-up exhibition at The Arena, providing an enlightening and interactive experience that deepened everyone’s appreciation of the rich traditions of Hari Raya.
