Persevering Through Ramadan Like a Champion
Hari Raya Celebrations
The spirit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri came alive during a special school assembly, where our student-athletes took centre stage to share the meaning behind the celebration in a way that was both heartfelt and relatable.
Through a thoughtfully put-together skit, they offered a glimpse into their personal experiences during the fasting month. From waking up earlier for breakfast to managing early morning trainings, and staying focused through long school days, the performance highlighted the discipline and resilience required to balance their sporting commitments with their faith. It was a quiet but powerful reminder of the strength it takes to stay steadfast, even when the going gets tough.
The skit also captured the lighter, more joyful side of Ramadan. Student-athletes spoke about the excitement of visiting Ramadan bazaars, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere, and of course, looking forward to breaking fast with family over a spread of well-loved dishes. These moments of togetherness and tradition added warmth and familiarity to the presentation, resonating with many in the audience.
As the skit moved into the celebration of Eid itself, a beautifully choreographed Angklung performance by our student-athletes captivated the audience.
Beyond the festivities, it is a time for reflection, forgiveness, and renewal. The student-athletes shared how they spend the first day of Eid reconnecting with loved ones, seeking forgiveness, and embracing the opportunity to start anew.
Their message was simple, yet deeply meaningful. Each Ramadan is not just a period of fasting, but a journey of personal growth. It is about emerging stronger in character, more grounded in values, and committed to becoming a better version of oneself.
It was a powerful takeaway for everyone present. A reminder that while our student-athletes continue to push boundaries in sport, they are also growing in discipline, empathy, and purpose beyond the field of play.
