Shooters Give It Their Best Shot at NSG
Shooting: National School Games ‘A’ and ‘B’ Division
The National School Games (NSG) Shooting season got off to a fired-up start with the ‘B’ Division competition, held from 6 to 10 April 2026.
Our ‘B’ Division shooters delivered a confident and commanding performance, turning months of hard work, discipline and focus into an impressive haul of 6 individual podium finishes, including 2 gold medals. Daanish Teo Yasin Teo and Quek Gek Ling kept their sights steady and their composure sharp, hitting the mark to claim gold in the 10m Air Pistol Boys’ Individual and 10m Air Pistol Girls’ Individual events respectively
Our Air Rifle shooters were equally outstanding. Freya Lim and Jeslyn Woo secured a strong 2-3 finish in the 10m Air Rifle Girls’ Individual, while Xuan Ilyas Mohammed Azhar battled his way to a well-earned second-place finish in the 10m Air Rifle Boys’ Individual.
The team’s collective strength led our Pistol and Rifle boys to clinch the ‘B’ Divisional Title in a convincing fashion, while our Pistol and Rifle girls fought hard to finish third overall.
The momentum carried into the ‘A’ Division events, held from 22 to 24 April 2026. Despite fielding just 4 shooters, our ‘A’ Division women’s team rose to the occasion, delivering a courageous and determined performance to secure 3 individual medals enroute to retaining the Divisional Title.
Among the medallists were IBDP Year 6 rifle shooters Joey Oh and Wichelle Tan, who showed excellent form throughout the competition. After topping the qualification round, Joey went on to claim gold, while Wichelle secured bronze in the 10m Air Rifle Women’s Individual event.
In the Pistol event, IBDP Year 5 shooter Chloe Tan showed remarkable composure under pressure, earning her maiden NSG podium finish after a nerve-wracking final.
A special mention goes to IBDP Year 6 shooter Jaymee Poh, who stepped up for the team by switching from Rifle to Pistol in late 2025 when the team was short of one Pistol shooter. Her willingness to take on a new challenge played an important role in strengthening the team’s push for the Divisional Title.
