Building Resilience Together
Resilience Camps
Between August and September, student-athletes stepped away from their classrooms and training grounds to gain valuable life skills through the Resilience Camps conducted by Outward Bound Singapore (OBS).
Secondary 1 student-athletes kicked off the camps at OBS from 31 August to 2 September 2026, embarking on a three-day experience centred on self-discovery. Building on this foundation, the Secondary 2 student-athletes attended their camp from 21 to 24 September, where they were challenged to push themselves, persevere through difficulties and develop the grit to bounce back from setbacks.
The Secondary 3 student-athletes took on their camp during the same period from 21 to 25 September, focusing on leadership and strategy. For the first time, Secondary 4 student-athletes who missed the camp when they were in Secondary 3, were invited to experience the camp. Through the experience, they learnt to step up, plan for success and push beyond their boundaries.
Also, 30 student-athletes headed to Bintan for the inaugural Overseas Leadership Training Camp from 19 to 25 September. The camp challenged them to adapt to unfamiliar situations, lead with empathy and develop the confidence to perform in different environments. They also had the opportunity to interact with students at a primary school in Bintan and contribute to the local community.
“Taking part in the Resilience Camp at OBS was a fun and meaningful experience. It challenged me to step out of my comfort zone, push through difficult moments and discover strengths I did not know I possessed. Beyond the physical challenges, I learned the importance of perseverance, teamwork and supporting one another. The experience reminded me that resilience is not about never struggling, but about having the courage to keep going when things get tough. I am very grateful for the memories, the lessons and the friendships I made during this time.”
– Kaelan Evan Low, Individual Programme – Squash, Secondary 1
“My experience at the Resilience Camp at OBS was truly meaningful and memorable. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and taught me the importance of resilience, teamwork, and staying calm when faced with challenges. Beyond the activities themselves, I gained a better understanding of myself and learned to appreciate the support and strengths of those around me. It was an experience that challenged me, encouraged me to grow, and left me with lessons that I will carry with me beyond the camp.”
– Kaeann Lee, Table Tennis, Secondary 2
“I think that the Resilience Camp at OBS pushed me out of my comfort zone, leaving a lasting mark on my life. The camp helped me deeply understand gratitude, especially through the highs and lows I experienced, like times when we couldn't shower, couldn't sleep comfortably, or had to hike through heavy rain and up a 300-metre mountain. This experience taught me that giving up can only teach you so much, while perseverance allows you to grow through situations you would miss if you simply gave up. Ultimately, the camp helped me become a better leader, teammate, and person. One of the most impactful quotes I took away from the experience was, ‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.’”
– Chong Qi En, Multi-Sport Academy, Secondary 3
