Sharing A Dialogue Beyond Sports
Post-Secondary Student-Athletes’ Dialogue with Mr David Neo
Written By

Bowling, IBDP Year 5
Centering on the theme "What’s next for me and us?", the recent dialogue session with the Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Senior Minister of State for Education, Mr David Neo directly addressed our hopes and concerns about entering the workforce.
The discussion explored what it means to be a "champion in life" a decade from now. Moving beyond the main stage, Mr David Neo joined us for a close interaction during the breakout sessions, where he listened closely to our personal aspirations. He took the time to validate our unique journeys, expressing that he was incredibly proud of what we are doing as student-athletes, balancing both rigorous sports training and academic excellence.
Reassuring us about the challenges ahead, Mr David Neo encouraged us to shift our perspective on AI, viewing it as a tool to add value to ourselves rather than as a threat. He also touched on key national issues – from sustainability and affordable housing to job creation – demonstrating how Singapore is actively building a stable environment for our generation to thrive.
Before wrapping up, he happily took a vibrant wefie with us to capture the memorable day. Concluding the session, Mr David Neo left us motivated to stay agile, think like entrepreneurs, and boldly take the road less travelled as we build our future together.
