At the WTT Youth Contender Bangkok 2026, held from 18 to 21 May 2026, our paddlers delivered an impressive display of resilience and competitive excellence, securing commendable podium finishes in the U19 Mixed Doubles events.
Leading the charge was sibling duo who surged to a silver medal finish. Loy Ming Ying, who is currently on Leave of Absence, partnered Loy Xing Yao to launch their campaign with poise and assurance, securing a composed 3-1 victory over their Indian opponents. They quickly built on this momentum, advancing decisively through the Round of 32 with a dominant 3-0 win. An all-Sports School showdown awaited in the next round, but Xing Yao and Ming Ying rose to the occasion, outplaying Yang Ze Yi and Janelle Chiang 3-1. Carrying their momentum into the quarterfinals, they edged past a tough Chinese Taipei pairing in a nail-biting 3-2 thriller.
The duo remained relentless, overpowering fellow Sports School paddlers Ellsworth Le and Chloe Lai 3-0 in the semifinals to book their place in the final. There, they battled valiantly against another strong Chinese Taipei pair, ultimately clinching a well-earned silver. Meanwhile, Diploma in Business Studies Year 3 student-athlete Chloe and alumnus Ellsworth secured the joint-bronze medal.
The action didn’t stop there. Staying in form at the WTT Youth Star Contender Bangkok 2026 held from 22 to 24 May, Chloe teamed up with Ming Ying for the U19 Girls’ Doubles, where the pair delivered another stirring run to the podium. After receiving a BYE, they dove straight into the quarterfinals, grinding out a tense 3-2 victory over Korean opponents to advance into the semifinals.
They followed up with yet another hard-fought 3-2 triumph over Chinese Taipei in the semifinals, showcasing resilience under pressure. In the final, they went toe-to-toe with a formidable Chinese pairing, fighting fiercely before securing an impressive silver medal to cap off a remarkable campaign.
