EAST Badminton Age Group Series 2026
Our shuttlers delivered a stellar performance at the EAST Badminton Age Group Series 2026, held from 22 to 28 June, bringing home an impressive 23 medals across the U15, U17, U19 and Open categories.
Leading the way in the Open events, Rithika Somasundaram claimed the Women's Singles Open title, while May Yoon San and Taean Tan Guanyu emerged champions in the Mixed Doubles Open. The Mixed Doubles Open also saw Bonita Bai Hanqian and Aldrich Goh Guan Song finish runners-up, with Tan Wan Qi and Daryl Leong Jun Rui, as well as Liang Zi Xuan and Chew Jie Yang, securing joint-third placings. Foo Ee Zen added to the medal haul with a joint-third finish in the Men's Singles Open.
Our U17 student-athletes also enjoyed a successful campaign. Julian Tan Yi Kai captured the U17 Boys' Singles title, while Daryl Leong Jun Rui and Ong Jun Hao were crowned U17 Boys' Doubles champions. Rithika completed a memorable double by winning the U17 Girls' Singles title, while Loo Kit Rei Chara and Bonita Bai Hanqian claimed gold in the U17 Girls' Doubles. Jessie Batchelor and Caryn Chua Xin Lin finished second, with two other Sports School pairs earning joint-third placings.
In the younger age groups, Tan Xi En led a clean sweep of the U15 Boys' Singles podium by taking the title ahead of runner-up Andres Lim Yong Li and joint-third finisher Yeoh Kai Jie. The team also secured podium finishes in the U15 Girls' Singles and both U15 Boys' and Girls' Doubles events.
The strong showing continued in the U19 Boys' Singles, where Julian Tan Yi Kai claimed the silver medal and Foo Ee Zen finished joint-third.
YONEX Bonn International 2026
At the YONEX Bonn International 2026 in Germany, Nge Joo Jin from the Diploma in Business Studies programme and his partner Li Zheng Hong secured the silver medal in the Mixed Doubles event. The duo produced a series of strong performances to reach the final, where they put up a spirited fight against Nicolas Franconville and Julie Franconville before finishing runners-up with a 15–21, 18–21 scoreline. Their performance marks another encouraging milestone as they continue to sharpen their game against top international opponents.
