Shooting: 48th Southeast Asian Shooting Championship and Taipei International Grand Prix

The air was thick with anticipation at the Gongxi Shooting Range in Taoyuan, Taiwan, as our shooters stepped up to the firing line for the 48th Southeast Asian Shooting Championship and Taipei International Grand Prix, held concurrently from 3 to 13 June 2026. Facing formidable powerhouses from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, our past and present student-athletes took on every shot with absolute focus and steady hands, capturing a total of 25 medals (9 gold, 12 silver, and 4 bronze) across both competitions.

At the 48th Southeast Asian Shooting Championship, Year 3 Diploma in Business Studies student-athlete Jillian Su teamed up with alumna Faithe Odelia De Souza in the 10m Air Rifle Women’s Junior Team event to clinch a first-place finish. In the men’s category, alumnus Mohamad Irwan shone in the 10m Air Rifle Men’s Team event to take home another gold medal.

The excitement was equally palpable at the Taipei International Grand Prix, where our young shooters repeatedly stepped onto the podium. Wichelle Tan and Joey Oh put on a spectacular display of precision, spearheading a thrilling gold-medal victory in the 10m Air Rifle Women’s Junior Team event alongside alumna Soh Yi Wei. The individual events were just as exhilarating, with Wichelle and Joey capturing the second and third spots in the 10m Air Rifle Women’s Junior Individual event, alongside a brilliant gold and silver finish in the Mixed Team Junior category.

Not to be outdone, Xavier Tay, a second-year Diploma in Business student-athlete, also hit his mark beautifully, securing the top spot in the 10m Air Rifle Men’s Junior Team event.

Over on the pistol range, the clinical focus continued. Quek Gek Ling showed incredible composure under pressure to secure a silver medal in the 10m Air Pistol Women’s Junior Individual event, before teaming up with Clarice Lee to take home another superb silver in the Junior Team event.

Our alumni also put up a phenomenal showing, anchoring several victories across the senior categories. Mohamad Irwan delivered a masterful performance, capturing the top spots in both the 10m Air Rifle Men’s Individual and the grueling 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men’s Individual events. Meanwhile, our women shooters absolutely shone: alumna Irna Qistina dominated the 10m Air Rifle Women’s Team event with a first-place finish, and later teamed up with alumnae Adele Tan and Edlyn Nadra to anchor another thrilling first-place victory in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Women’s Team event.
