Footballers Take Their Game Overseas
Football: Academy Trip to Malaysia, UTR! Challenge Cup (Thailand)
Academy Trip to Kuala Lumpur
From 17 to 22 June 2026, 58 football student-athletes from Secondary 1 to 3 travelled to Shah Alam, Kuala Lumpur, for an overseas training and competition experience against the youth teams of Selangor Football Club (FC).
The six-day trip provided valuable international exposure, with the student-athletes facing quality opposition that challenged them both technically and tactically. Competing against strong and highly motivated teams allowed them to sharpen their skills, adapt to different styles of play, and gain valuable match experience.
For Secondary 2 student-athlete Ilmal Yaqin Mohamed Fadzuhasny, the tour offered lessons that extended beyond football.
"I learnt how to take care of myself to ensure I can perform at my very best, not give up easily, and continue giving my best. The opponents were aggressive and willing to give everything as they had nothing to lose," he shared.
Beyond the matches, Ilmal also discovered the importance of leadership and teamwork. The experience reinforced the need to motivate his teammates, especially during challenging moments, and reminded him that success comes not only from individual performances but also from lifting those around him.
The overseas tour proved to be a meaningful learning experience, equipping the footballers with valuable insights both on and off the pitch as they continue their development as student-athletes.
UTR! Challenge Cup (Thailand)
Secondary 1 and 2 football student-athletes represented Singapore Sports School at the UTR! Challenge Cup in Thailand, delivering strong performances in both the Under-13 and Under-14 categories.

The Under-14 team also performed admirably, finishing third. The team comprised Rayn Izzam, Muhammad Danial Akif, Muhammad Deniz Asher and Muhammad Fahyim Iman. The tournament provided valuable international competition experience, allowing the student-athletes to develop further their technical, tactical and mental capabilities against quality regional opposition.
