Lighting The Way For The 22nd Batch Of Student Leaders
Student Leaders’ Investiture Ceremony
On 26 May 2025, 148 student-athletes officially stepped into their leadership roles at the Student Leaders’ Investiture, marking the beginning of a new chapter in student leadership at Singapore Sports School. Leading the 22nd Student Council is Cari-Anne Ong (Fencing, IBDP, Year 5), who was inaugurated as President. Supporting her in leadership are Vice-Presidents Meredith Chow Ern Xi (Netball, Secondary 4) and Javier Ng (Water Polo, Secondary 4).
During her address, Cari-Anne shared the inspiration behind the theme chosen for this year’s ceremony – Incandescent and her hope for the 22nd Student Council. She explained, “My hope for the 22nd Student Council is to create opportunities for every student-athlete to shine—to carry their own light, walk their own path, and celebrate their achievements, one milestone at a time. Together, our collective warmth and glow will illuminate the entire student body - just like our theme, Incandescent.”
Guest-of-Honour Mr Jasvinderpal Singh, President of the 2010 Student Council and now a Chinook pilot with the Republic of Singapore Air Force, spoke about leading with purpose and passion. Drawing on his own leadership journey, he encouraged the student leaders to “lead with purpose, lead with courage, and lead for others” so that the flame continues to burn brightly.
The ceremony was attended by family members, staff, and student leaders from other schools. Some highlights included two student-produced videos: a heartfelt montage capturing the accomplishments of the outgoing 21st Student Council, and an introduction to the incoming 22nd Council.
The event culminated with the recitation of the Student Leaders’ Pledge and the symbolic passing of the flame from the outgoing to the incoming Council.
