A Triumphant Return For Paddlers From Asian Championships
Table Tennis: 28th ITTF-ATTU Asian Team Championships
It was a historic moment to remember as the Women’s Team made a long-awaited return to the podium after 4 years, capturing a bronze medal at the 28th ATTU–ITTF Asian Table Tennis Team Championships in Bhubaneswar, India. The achievement was achieved by a fearless squad of 5, out of which, 3 are our current student-athletes. They include Loy Ming Ying, the youngest in the squad, Ser Lin Qian and Chloe Lai.
Their campaign began on 11 October 2025 with a strong start in the group stage, sweeping Maldives 3-0. Riding on that momentum, they put up another commanding performance to defeat Kazakhstan 3-0, topping their group with style and confidence.
In the Position 7-10 play-off, the Women’s Team stormed past Malaysia 3-0, securing a well-earned spot in the quarterfinals. There, they edged out host nation India 3-2 in a nail-biting contest, before bowing out gallantly to table tennis powerhouse Japan in the semifinals. Their spirited run earned them a well-deserved bronze medal, a proud milestone for the team and Singapore.
Meanwhile, the Men’s Team, featuring both past and present student-athletes Izaac Quek, Koen Pang, Ellsworth Le, and Clarence Chew, also made their mark. They opened their campaign with back-to-back 3-0 wins over Oman and Uzbekistan, topping their group in a convincing manner.
Displaying resilience and determination, the men fought hard for a 3–1 victory over regional rival Thailand in the Position 7–11 play-off. Despite a 1-3 loss to Iran in the next round, they bounced back to close their campaign on a high with a thrilling 3-2 win over Kazakhstan in the Position 9-10 play-off, a testament to their fighting spirit and teamwork.
