Individual Programme

Information for Individual Programme Selection (2027 Intake)

All Primary 6 pupils and secondary school students pursuing a sport outside the Academy Programmes that the Singapore Sports School offers may apply.

STAGES OF SELECTION RESULT
  • High-performing students in the National Junior, Youth or Development Teams, or students who have distinguished themselves with outstanding achievements in their chosen sport may apply by 31 May 2026: https://go.gov.sg/ssp-application-enrol

Phase 1: Selection Assessment
  • Period: March to June 2026
  • Selection Criteria: Endorsement by the National Sports Association is mandatory. It has to be supported by the NSA’s training, development and competition plans for the applicant for the next 4 years minimally.

Phase 2: Interview
  • PeriodMarch to July 2026
  • A representative from the NSA will be present during the interview. Successful applicants will then be required to go through a Medical Screening.
Successful participants will be offered Direct School Admission to Singapore Sports School

Sports School Support

Sports
  • Athlete development and performance support provided in areas such as physiotherapy, psychology, nutrition, strength and conditioning, physiology, and performance analysis;
  • Sports Scholarships for deserving student-athletes (conditions apply);
  • Subsidy support in local/overseas sports competitions (conditions apply);
  • Shuttle bus services to training and competition venues (conditions apply); and
  • The NSA and/or parent will be responsible for planning all training sessions and competitions, which includes transportation (where SSP cannot support).

Academics
  • Small Group Teaching: Allows for better engagement and attention for each student-athlete;
  • Flexible Academic Structure: Possibility of deferment and exemption of assessments to complement student-athletes’ sport plans;
  • Academic Make-Up System: Ensures student-athletes who miss lessons due to training and competition are supported;
  • Academy Mentorship: Academy mentors oversee the academic and social-emotional development of student-athletes through structured platforms;
  • Through-Train Pathways: Allow student-athletes to bypass National Examinations for a longer sport development runway; and
  • Multiple Post-Secondary Through-Train Programmes: Different options in academic pacing and assessment.

Boarding (optional)
  • “Home Sweet Home” experience that is conducive for rest and social interaction; and
  • Boarding routines and activities purposefully organised to help student-athletes develop important life skills in self-management and living in a community while maturing into Learned Champions With Character.
