In Pictures: Mother Tongue Fortnight
From 14 February to 6 March 2024, student-athletes deepened their understanding and appreciation of their Mother Tongue languages and culture through experiential and hands-on activities organised as part of Mother Tongue Fortnight. The Mother Tongue Fortnight programme aims to enhance the significance of mother tongues in maintaining cultural heritage, fostering identity, and promoting multilingualism.
Chinese painting, seal carving, Dikir Barat workshop, Kompang workshop and Indian textile painting were some of the activities that were conducted. Also, all Secondary 1 and Year 5 IBDP student-athletes made dumplings from scratch and even had a chance to try the dumplings that they made!

All Secondary 1s and IBDP student-athletes got together for a ‘Chinese Dumpling Making’ workshop, and what a yummy experience it was!
During Chinese lessons, student-athletes in Secondary 1 and 2 did clay craft, Secondary 3s tried out seal carving and the Secondary 4s used their artistic skills for Chinese painting.
Student-athletes in Secondary 1 who are taking Malay had a delicious time making traditional kuih at the Home Economics Room. The Secondary 2s, 3s and 4s learnt Malay art forms namely Malay dance, the Dikir Barat and Kompang respectively.
It was a fun time with art during Tamil lessons! The Secondary 1 painted Indian clay lamps, the Secondary 3s painted a textile and the Secondary 4 student-athlete used clay to make Indian musical instruments.
