Two Singapore Sports School alumni won Young Player of the Year awards at Football Association of Singapore’s annual awards night. The 2019 FAS Nite on 31 October 2019 recognised the outstanding effort and contribution of players and officials in Singapore’s professional football season. Muhammad Hami Syahin Said and Mohammad Sadik Mohd Said were named top Young Players in the Singapore Premier League and National Football League Division 2 respectively.

A week later, Muhammad Safuwan Baharudin from Sports School’s pioneer batch of Football Academy student-athletes was named among the Asean Best XI at the 2019 AFF Awards on 8 November.

The New Paper Dollah Kassim Award

The extra hours Iman Hakim Ibrahim spent in the gym to toughen himself physically and on the field to hone his skills has paid off for the Singapore Sports School footballer. Iman’s impeccable work ethic on and off the pitch, and strong technical ability have impressed his coaches, earning him a call-up into the national Under 18 age-group team. It is also this drive for excellence and positive attitude that won Iman the 2019 TNP Dollah Kassim Award.

Three Singapore Sports School Football Academy student-athletes were among six nominees for the 10th The New Paper Dollah Kassim Award. Secondary 3 footballers Amir Syafiz Abdul Rashid and Ethan Henry Pinto, and Secondary 5 Iman were nominated for the award which recognises talented Under 18 footballers who are also good role models to their peers.

Sports School’s student-athletes and alumni have won the award for nine consecutive years since the award was introduced in 2010. Winners of the Dollah Kassim Award receive an opportunity for an overseas stint with a reputable academy sponsored by Singapore Pools.
