2019 International Youth Netball Challenge

The 11th International Youth Netball Challenge (IYNC) saw the clashes of the Titans among 11 netball teams from Australia, Hong Kong, South Africa, Malaysia and Singapore. Held over seven tiring but exciting days at the Singapore Sports School from 23 to 29 November 2019, Paarl Girls High School, South Africa eventually emerged victorious to claim the championship title after defeating Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS), Malaysia with 47-18.

Sports School sent two teams from Secondary 2 and 3 to take part in the competition, who ended in 5th and 7th positions respectively. Secondary 2 student-athlete, Faithmaria Ifeoma Mackevin Lawrence, was also awarded the Best Defender, while the Best Mid Court and Best Shooters went to Fatin Najiha from BJSS and Jacobs Alisa from Paarl Girls High School respectively.

The level of competition by the international teams provided Sports School netballers with the opportunity to pit themselves against the best in their age-group and improved their quality of play. Beyond the game, netballers were able to forge strong friendship by playing host to the international teams. Off the court, our netballers also benefitted from assisting with bench officiating, video recording, emceeing and supporting the logistics required for the competition.
