The heat made its presence felt in Johor, Malaysia, but our trackers still showed up and blazed the tracks at the Johor Athletics Open Championships from 4 to 5 August 2023. They lined up against top talents from Malaysia and showed their competitors a clean set of cleats to win an impressive 9 medals!

Alumna Kerstin Ong Jing Rong kept her pace leading up to the Asian Games when she won gold in the 100m hurdles and bronze in the 100m sprint events. IBDP Year 5 student-athlete Audrey Koh Shun Yi executed her techniques well in the 400m hurdles to claim the silver medal. Diploma in Business student-athlete Sheik Fayz Sheik Alau`ddin also rose to the challenge in the Discus Throw event and took home the silver medal.

SA Combined Events Championships 2023


The SA Combined Events Championships 2023 was held on 19 August 2023 and our trackers jumped on the opportunity to compete in the pentathlon event which saw them compete in the 100m race, 800m race (only girls), 1500m race (only boys), shot put, long jump, and high jump events.

Our trackers showed their versatility and dominated the event, finishing with 15 medals consisting 5 golds, 6 silvers and 4 bronzes. They swept the top three spots in the Under-15 Girls’, Under-18 Girls’ and Under-18 Boys’ Pentathlon events, which were topped by Naema Kyrana Abdullah, Navitha Yovan and Jayden Ng respectively. Audrey Koh and alumnus Mohamad Afzal Mohamad Zin also performed well and secured gold medals in the Under-20 category.
