2nd Prize For Creating Own Newspaper
2023 Create Your Own Newspaper Competition
A team of five student-athletes from Secondary 2 secured the 2nd prize in the Lower Secondary category of the '2023 Create Your Own Newspaper Competition'. The team consisted of Chloe Tan, Clarissa Tio, Javier Tan, Meredith Chow, and Ong Shi Han. The competition was jointly organised by the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning, zbCOMMA (Lianhe Zaobao's Student Paper), and Xinmin Secondary School. 87 teams from 57 schools participated in the competition.
In this competition, student-athletes had to take on the role of a reporter to do up a newspaper report. They did research, coordinated with interviewees, and conducted in-person and online interviews before they started writing and designing the page.
"Participating in the competition involved continuous planning over several days as well as variousimprovements to the final product. The extensive effort was worth it when we won an award making the overall process even more enjoyable than it already was," said Chloe Tan.
