Student Leaders Get A Head-Start On Event Planning

A three-day Student Leadership Workshop was organised from 25 to 27 November 2021 to equip all student leaders - student councillors, boarding captains and sports captains - with facilitation skills to lead discussions for event planning while fostering innovative and creative thinking. With the upcoming Secondary 1 Orientation and Open House next year, we were taught how to work in different group dynamics as well as to manage tight timelines when planning events. Furthermore, we were also given the opportunity to present our ideas for next year’s Secondary 1 Orientation. The workshop facilitators were open and candid which helped us gather necessary feedback to refine and polish our plans.

To me facilitating an event is like a journey - to go in with an open mind and learn from the experience. From event conceptualisation to the execution and the final outcome, there are many opportunities from which we can learn and reflect upon. The Student Leadership Workshop was indeed an enlightening and enriching experience for me to better lead the people under me and to better serve the school. I look forward to applying what I have learned in the upcoming Secondary 1 Orientation and hope the incoming batch will similarly have a thrilling and memorable experience next year!
