Cycling - Yayasan Sime Darby Track Series

The Yayasan Sime Darby track series is the first-of-its-kind, launched only last year in Malaysia. Diploma in Business student-athlete, Valencia Tan, who is the only female cyclist in Sports School performed exceptionally well with a 2nd-place finish in the competition.

Diving – Singapore Inter-Schools Diving Championships

The diving team fought through wet weather and dreary conditions during the 11th Singapore Inter-Schools Diving Championships organised by the Singapore Swimming Association and brought home a total of 4 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals.

Despite feeling some discomfort, our IBDP Year 5 student-athlete, Yim Shek Yen, pushed on and eventually took the gold medal in the Level 12 Boys 5m Platform, showing much determination and persistence. Clara Liaw Yan Wen secured a gold medal in her first-ever competition representing Sports School at the Level 11 Girls 1m Springboard. Also, Sports School’s youngest diver, Tyler Lee, who is in Secondary 1, claimed 2 silvers in the Level 6 Boys’ 1m and 3m Springboard events.

Golf – Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) Junior Open Championships, Thailand Junior Development Tour (TJDT) Golf Tournament


Golfer Passion Hsu has had an eventful month. She performed well at the MGA Junior Open Championship held from 7 to 10 March 2023 and was placed 2nd place in ‘B’ Division. The Secondary 1 student-athlete’s results were so impeccable that she placed 2nd overall in the Under-18 Girls’ division. Passion maintained her fine form at the Thailand Junior Development Tour (TJDT) Golf Tournament in Chiangmai, Thailand from 22 to 27 March. She claimed the 3rd spot in the ‘B’ Division category. Her seniors, Denise Ng and Chloe Ng, took part in the HSBC Youth Golf Challenge 2022 (3rd leg) cum 1st National Ranking Game. The both of them came in 3rd in the ‘A’ and ‘B’ Division respectively.

Ice Skating - Singapore National Figure Skating Championships

Pagiel Sng posted a gold medal score of 142.97 in the Senior Men’s event at the Singapore National Figure Skating Championships on 11 to 12 March 2023. Prior to the competition, he had recently returned from a five-week-long competition and training stint in Colorado Springs, USA, where there were optimal training opportunities.

Roller Sports – ASEAN Roller Sport Championship


Keenan Brunkard faced the storm and beat 26 tough competitors from 12 Asian countries in the ASEAN Open Inline Freestyle Championship held from 11 to 13 March 2022, qualifying for the round of 16. In the knockout round, Keenan continued to push on and eventually defeated Nur Hamdilah Syadhan and Huang Bing-Jun from South Korea 2-0. He just barely missed the mark for the gold medal and got placed 2nd runner up in the ASEAN category.

Taekwondo - 27th Asian Cities Taekwondo Championships


Secondary 2 student-athlete, Gwen Koh En Qi, claimed gold in the Individual Female Cadet Poomsae event at the 27th Asian Cities Taekwondo Championship in Hong Kong despite facing eight other international competitors.

Triathlon – MetaSprint Series


Triathletes Janel Susastra and Lim Wan Ting did Sports School proud at the MetaSprint Series on 5 March 2023. Janel finished 1st amongst both local and international competitors in the U19 category. Lim Wang Ting had a good race as well as she came in 2nd amongst locals and 7th overall.

Wrestling -  National Open & Team Trials 2023

On 11 to 12 March 2023, wrestler Heba Lutfina pinned her way to a gold medal finish against Alvinia Lim at the National Open and Team Trials 2023. Heba earned her medal in the Women’s Freestyle 53kg category after winning both bouts by pins.
