Netball Matches Ignite Excitement

Deloitte Netball Super League
Friendly Match with Tanglin Trust School, Centaurs Netball Club and Sports Ready Netball Academy

The netball court at Our Tampines Hub came alive from 15 January to 13 March 2022 as 6 netball teams pit their skills against one another at the Deloitte Netball Super League 2022. Faithmaria Ifeoma McKevin Lawrence (Diploma in Business Studies, Year 1), Christy Ng Kai Xi Diploma in Business Studies, Year 2) and Hannah Low Guan Lin (Diploma in Business, Year 1) played in Swifts Team which took the 5th position.

Alumnae – Sherlyn Rachel Yip Yoke Kheng, Laura Low Shu Yi, Janell Tan Hui Ru, Cheyenne Rae Howard and Khor Ting Fang – were also with the Blaze Team which took the championship title, while alumna Kimberly Lim Wei Yan was with the Sneakers Team which won second place.

Meanwhile, our other netballers were equally excited as they will be participating in a series of friendly games over two weeks of friendly matches with Tanglin Trust School, Centaurs Netball Club and Sports Ready Netball Academy.

The first match was played by the U14 team in a 7v7 format against Tanglin Trust School on 18 March. Despite their best effort, the team was off the pace in their first match. However, it was a good warm-up for the team as they learnt that they had to work on applying skills they have learnt during training to the games in future.

Prior to their rematch with Tanglin Trust School on 25 March, the team strengthened their training sessions to include court work and a game against their seniors. They learnt from their mistakes and saw a huge improvement in their games and team dynamics.

The other matches, held in a 5v5 format, was played by 6 teams – U13 (2 teams), U14, U15/16 (2 teams) and U17 – against Centuars Netball Club and Sport Ready Netball Academy on 19 and 26 March. It was a new experience for the team in the match against Sport Ready Netball Academy where our netballers had to take turns to substitute players for the opponent’s team as one of their members could not make it.

Overall, the netballers were able to gain new experiences, and they look forward to more of such friendly matches in future.
