The four-day training camp at Sekolah Sukan Tunku Mahkota Ismail in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, was a great learning experience for all of us as we were able to build our character and further develop our sport ability. From 24 to 27 January 2019, Singapore Sports School’s Secondary 1 and 2 Netball Academy student-athletes had ample opportunities for development in the sport – as players and expanding our knowledge as coaches to our juniors.

There was also room for personal growth. As we travel together, we learn the importance of being responsible for our teammates' wellbeing and taking the initiative to help each other when possible.

Through the two friendly matches we played against SSTMI, we learnt that we had to build our physical and mental strength.

When our juniors took to the court, the Secondary 2 team were given the chance to coach our juniors. We learnt to observe the game in detail, give constructive feedback to our juniors on how they can improve movement on court, as well as adapt our game strategy according to the strengths and weaknesses of our opponents and coach our juniors into executing them.

Playing with netballers with higher skill and quality of play has motivated us to continue refining our game and honing our ability to become a better player.
