Words Of Encouragement For River Valley High School

When I heard about the tragedy which happened at River Valley High School on 19 July 2021, I was shocked by the unexpected news. It must have been traumatising for the students and staff at River Valley High School. I wanted to provide support to them and help them pull through this difficult time.

I brought up to other student leaders the idea of creating a scrapbook that would help Singapore Sports School student-athletes and staff convey our individual heartfelt sentiments and words of encouragement to students at River Valley High School. I was glad that the idea was well-supported. Together with help from other student leaders – Janelle Lum Wai Yan (Track and Field, Secondary 4) and Kieran Chew (Shooting, Secondary 3), we put together the scrapbook and passed it around to fellow student-athletes and staff to pen down words of encouragement. The book was received by a staff representative of River Valley High School on 30 July.

While this is a simple act, I hope that our messages will provide some comfort to those at River Valley High School.
