A Good Pre-Season Boost For Netballers

Daisy Tan Netball Carnival

Our Netball student-athletes were out in full force at the Daisy Tan Netball Carnival on 28 January 2023. Organised by Singapore Netball, the Carnival was a great opportunity to test out various tactics and game plays and deepen chemistry among the players. Despite the heavy downpour and delays, the student-athletes kept their spirits high and continued supporting each other on and off the court.

The “Platinum” team consisting of the Secondary 3 and 4 netballers took first place in the Under-17 category, while the “Gold” team consisting Secondary 2 netballers secured second in the Under-14 category.

“Throughout the entire Carnival, we watched and supported each other on and off the court. It was an amazing opportunity for our teams to work on team chemistry and practice set-ups for the upcoming National School Games. It was also great exposure for our junior netballers. Through this competition, we managed to identify our mistakes, and there are still more improvements to work on. There were also moments of frustration but all of us continued to persevere and push through, and achieved the results we wanted,” said Secondary 4 student-athlete Tan Zhi Ting.

Secondary 2 student-athlete Neo Kaiqi added, “Before the carnival started, we set out to win something, and our hard work was reflected in our results. We have really improved from last year in terms of our endurance, passes, fundamentals and even our flow down the court. Even though we lost our match against RGS, we were not easily disheartened. Instead, we moved on and focused on our following matches. Overall, I think we did a great job at Daisy Tan Netball Carnival.”
