A Warm Welcome For Minister Edwin Tong

Visit by Minister Edwin Tong and Parliamentary Secretary Eric Chua

Mr Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), paid a visit to Singapore Sports School on 6 January 2021, to have a dialogue with the School’s Board of Directors and student-athletes. This was his first visit to the school since he took office as Minister last year. He was joined by Mr Eric Chua, Parliamentary Secretary for MCCY.

During the engagement session with Board Members, Minister Tong sought feedback on how the school can further improve its programmes, and strengthen partnership with the sport eco-system, to better support youth athletes. The hour-long session, which saw each Board Member share their thoughts, was a fruitful and meaningful discussion.

Minister Tong also took time to meet student-athletes and alumni for an informal chat. Student-athletes openly discussed various topics including their typical day in school, the school’s support for their sporting pursuits, and their aspirations for the future.

The visit ended with a tour of the Human Performance Lab facility at the National Youth Sports Institute hub at Sports School.
