Netball Carnival Develops Skills On And Off Court

2020 Singapore Sports School Primary School Netball Carnival


The Singapore Sports School Primary School Netball Carnival was back for another exciting edition on 4 January 2020. 16 teams of budding netballers went head-to-head with the aim of becoming champions at 1 Champions Way.

A positive and encouraging atmosphere provided a friendly environment for netballers from 14 primary schools to compete in a friendly environment. Excitement and anticipation bubbled from the young participants as they arrived early to prepare for the first whistle that sounded at 8 am, before the flurry of action that continued till the winner was decided after seven round-robin matches. Prizes were presented to the top four teams.

Through the annual competition, a developmental initiative by Sports School’s Netball Academy, primary school netballers have an additional platform to gauge their ability against their peers. Sports School coaches are also able to identify players with potential and talent to encourage them to further developing their netball skills at the Sports School.

Teamwork was played out not only on the courts, but also on the sidelines as Netball Academy student-athletes contributed as umpires, timekeepers and scorers, and helped with administrative matters to ensure the event ran smoothly.
