Action And Fun At Pesta Sukan

Pesta Sukan 2023

Pesta Sukan is an annual sports festival held in the lead-up to the National Day to unite Singaporeans through exciting sporting action. This year, there were over 40 different sports competitions held over three weeks from 15 July to 8 August 2023.

Secondary 1 student-athlete Megan Chng won her first medal – a gold – since she joined Sports School. Megan came out tops in the Under-15 Girls’ Pentathlon, while her senior from Secondary 2 Marc David Elessa finished 3rd among the Under-15 boys in Pentathlon.

Multi-Sport Academy’s student-athletes also participated in the competition to test their skills and knowledge gained from their Track and Field module. The student-athletes performed well against talented trackers from all over the nation, with Jessica Tan Qian Chi finishing top 8 in the event.

Pencak silat exponents demonstrated their skills and dedication at the Pesta Sukan Silat Championships from 29 July to 6 August 2023. 13 pencak silat exponents fought for a spot on the podium, out of which 11 managed to secure medals. Sports School’s pencak silat exponents dominated the stage and left a significant mark with their exceptional performance, resulting in 8 gold and 3 bronze medals.

Paddlers from all over Singapore congregated for Pesta Sukan 2023, where Sports School’s paddlers won 2 golds, 1 silver and 4 bronzes. It was a clean sweep of the Under-19 Boys’ Singles event, with Jayden Tan emerging as the title winner and Yang Zeyi and Koh Junhao taking the runner-up positions. Secondary 3 paddler Ellsworth Le was also crowned the Under-15 Boys’ Singles champion, while his teammate Loy Xing Yao placed 3rd. Among the girls, Sie Lay Yin and Clarissa Lee picked up bronze medals in the Under-15 and Under-19 events respectively.

Taekwondo

Gwen Koh En Qi gave a power-packed performance and earned the silver medal in the Individual Female Cadet Poomsae in a field of 28 athletes. This event was held jointly with the Singapore Youth Olympic Festival and the Singapore Taekwondo Federation.
