Somersaulting To 4-All-Around Titles

2019 Singapore Gymnastics National Championships

Singapore Sports School artistic and rhythmic gymnasts showed their versatility, flexibility and strength in multiple apparatus to emerge Individual All-Around champions at the 2019 Singapore Gymnastics National Championships.

Alumni Zeng Qiyan and Kaeson Lim Junyi took top honours in the Artistic Gymnastics competition – Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) Senior category, while student-athletes Sophia Ho Jin Wen and Avryl Tan Ying were top in the Rhythmic Gymnastics FIG Junior and Senior categories respectively.

Sports School’s post-secondary rhythmic gymnasts swept all but one medal in the Rhythmic Gymnastics Senior division. Avryl led the medal charge in the Individual All-Around (IAA) event with Leah Chew and Alicia Lim Qian Hui in second and third. They won multiple medals in the individual apparatus components.

Secondary 1 student-athlete Sophia performed well in the individual apparatus, collecting 2 gold and 1 silver medals to give her the IAA title. Secondary 2’s Low Yu Yenn finished third in the IAA with three other bronze medals.

Altogether, Sports School student-athletes and alumni won 16 gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze medals at the meet from 15 to 23 March 2019.
