Artistic Swimmers Produce 3-Medal Haul

2019 SSA National Schools Artistic Swimming Championships


Ariel Sng Kai Lin and Rachel Thean Rae Sze emerged queens in their respective divisions at the 10th SSA National Schools Artistic Swimming Championships from 30 to 31 March 2019.

Swirls and twirls were created in the Toa Payoh Swimming Complex pool as artistic swimmers displayed artistry and flair in hope of being crowned champions in the various events.

Ariel and Rachel, post-secondary student-athletes in Singapore Sports School, triumphed in the Solo Free Routine Open Senior and Secondary Division "A" respectively. Ariel, a Year 1 Diploma in Business Studies student-athlete, dominated in the Open Senior category with 71.7000 points, 11.7500 points ahead of the next best competitor.

In the Division “A”, International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Year 5’s Rachel faced stiffer competition in the Secondary “A” Division but remained unfazed to deliver a strong performance for 72.6500 points and the gold medal.

Secondary 2 Sports School student-athlete Eleanor Quah Yu Wei also secured the bronze medal (61.200 points) in the Secondary Division "C" Solo Free Routine. Personal Best scores were also achieved by Annabelle Gong Jia Xuan (60.7500 points, 4th), Caitlyn Anne Tan (58.5500 points, 9th) and Rae-Anne Ong (57.3500 points, 10th) in the same event.
