Class Of 2021 Celebrates Graduation

Singapore Sports School’s Class of 2021 marked their Graduation in a ceremony held in their classrooms on 24 September 2021. This is the second year running that the school has had to have a quieter celebration instead of a mass celebration with parents and staff in attendance at the Auditorium. 

Yet, the graduation pomp and celebratory mood was still in the air as 125 graduands donned their red blazer and white formal outfits to commemorate the occasion. The 1.5 hour classroom celebration commenced with a video of Principal Ong Kim Soon sharing his well-wishes and congratulatory messages to the graduands, followed by a recorded speech by Guest-of-Honour, Scott Ang, who is also an alumnus of the school and a President’s Scholar. Scott recollected his memories as a student-athlete, and shared three points as valuable advice to the graduands from his experience. Despite not having a physical ceremony, Scott still graced the occasion in person by attending the classroom celebrations. He also presented certificates to some student-athletes. 

This year’s valedictorians are Samantha Theresa Ortega (representing the Secondary cohort), and Cheryl Wee and Raeka Ee (representing the Post-Secondary cohort). They shared their fond memories as student-athletes and expressed their gratitude to their teachers, coaches, mentors, staff and parents who have made a difference and supported them in every aspect of their journey. 

Student-athletes also walked down memory lane as they watched a photo montage of their Sports School journey and a video of special messages by their coaches, teachers, mentors and staff, which put a smile on their faces. The celebration ended with a class photo using Zoom before they headed to The Arena for a tea reception.
