Alumni Shuttlers And Bowler Catch Victory

2019 World Police and Fire Games


Singapore Sports School badminton and bowling alumni changed out their uniform into sports jersey to compete at the 2019 World Police and Fire Games, held in Chengdu, China from 14 to 18 August. The Games, with their origins in San Jose, California in 1985, attracted thousands of police and fire fighter competitors from more than 80 countries to compete in over 54 sports.

Badminton alumni, Jason Teh Jia Heng, Terry Hee Yong Kai and Haafizh Mohd Noor blazed to a medal of each colour. Jason and Terry took a gold and silver respectively at the Men’s single event. Haafizh, who trained with Sports School badminton academy in preparation for the competition, partnered Jason in the Men’s doubles event and the duo emerged third.

At the bowling lanes, alumnus Marcus Leong Guo Rui clinched one Unisex Open Division Team gold medal and two silvers for Unisex Open (Skill) Division 18 years old and above Singles and All Events.
