Temasek Foundation Recognises Exemplary Student-Athletes

Temasek Foundation Scholarship for Sports and Study Award

Temasek Foundation generously recognises exemplary student-athletes with the Temasek Foundation Scholarship for Sports and Temasek Foundation Study Award for Sports. This year, 23 student-athletes received Temasek Foundation’s Scholarship while 114 received the Study Award.

The Temasek Foundation scholars are selected based on their good leadership qualities, ability to take on roles of being good ambassadors of sports, exemplary conduct, good sports achievements, and the potential to become high-performing athletes.

Among the 23 student-athletes who received the highly coveted Scholarship is Secondary 3 swimmer, Har Mint. Har Mint, who was previously from Pei Chun Public School, has proven to be an all-rounded student-athlete. As she has been doing competitive swimming since she was eight years old, she wanted to continue pursuing the sport seriously in Sports School while balancing her studies. Har Mint hopes to represent Singapore in swimming in the future.

On receiving the Scholarship, she shared: “I was pretty shocked to receive the Scholarship as I wasn’t really expecting to get a scholarship this year. However, I am glad to have been given the opportunity to receive this. I am fortunate to have a supportive family, coaches, and friends who have dedicated so much of their time to helping me achieve my goals. This Scholarship has encouraged me to continue working hard through my training and studies.

Apart from the Scholarship being a great motivating factor for me, it has helped both me and my family financially. I believe that this Scholarship will better support me in focusing on both my studies and sports as well as achieve my long-term goals.”

Another promising student-athlete who received Temasek Foundation Scholarship for Sports is paddler Yang Ze Yi, who is currently in Secondary 4. The former Nanyang Primary School student said, “I feel extremely honoured and humbly appreciative to have been awarded the Temasek Scholarship for Sports. This recognition not only acknowledges my dedication and diligence in my sport but also provides me with the opportunity to enhance my skills further and pursue my athletic dreams."
