Polish International 2021 (23 – 26 Sep 2021), Zakopane, Poland
Yonex Dutch Open 2021 (13 – 17 Oct 2021), Almere, Netherlands
Li-Ning Czech Open 2021 (21 – 24 Oct), Brno, Czech Republic
Yonex Belgian International 2021 (27 Oct – 31 Oct), Leuven Belgium

Our shuttlers are back in competitive action with the opening of travel corridors. They have been on a roll clinching back-to-back titles since the start of their Europe campaign in September.

Alumni Jaslyn Hooi Yue Yann and Jason Teh Jia Heng made their first stop at the Polish International 2021 which took place from 23 to 26 September 2021 in Poland, and won first and second place in the Women’s and Men’s Singles respectively. In the final, Jaslyn beat India's Samiya Imad Farooqui 21-11, 21-9, pushing her world ranking up from 135th to 119th. This is an affirmation for Jaslyn who is aiming for top 80 in world ranking by the end of next year, and to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Both Jaslyn and Jason were joined by fellow alumni – brothers Loh Kean Yew and Loh Kean Hean, as well as newly-weds Terry Hee Yong Kai and Tan Wei Han, at the Yonex Dutch Open held from 13 to 17 October in the Netherlands. At the Yonex Dutch Open, Kean Yew got the ball rolling by clinching the Men’s Singles title after beating India’s Lakshya Sen with a dominating win of 21-12, 21-16. The tournament’s second seed and world No. 41 took 36 minutes to defeat world No. 25 and top seed Sen, claiming his sixth international title and first since the 2019 Thailand Masters where he beat two-time Olympic Singles champion Lin Dan in the final. The Dutch Open was Kean Yew’s first outing since the Tokyo Olympics, and he attributed his success to his training stint in Dubai where he spent a month training with Denmark’s 2020 Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen.

Also at the Dutch Open, Kean Hean and partner Terry landed first place at the Men’s Doubles. They beat Malaysian 6th seeds Tan Wee Kiong and Tan Kian Meng with a nail-biting finish of 21-14, 18-21, 22-20, making it the first win for the pair at an International Challenge event. The pair continued their winning streak and were crowned champions again at the Li-Ning Czech Open 2021 Men’s Doubles event which took place from 21 to 24 October.

Together with his mixed doubles partner and spouse Wei Han, the pair clinched a third place in the Mixed Doubles at the Dutch Open and went on to win first place at Li-Ning Czech Open 2021 where they defeated Russia’s Lev Barinov and Anastasiia Boiarun in straight sets of 21-18, 21-12.

The pair also finished in joint third at the Yonex Belgian International 2021, while Jaslyn took the joint third position in the Women’s Singles event. The tournament was held from 27 to 31 October in Leuven, Belgium.
