Sea Games-Bound Student-Athletes Inspire

Lessons From The Champions

The assembly programme on 30 September 2019 included an exciting Lessons From The Champions session. Three SEA Games-bound IBDP student-athletes, Au Yeong Wai Yhann (Squash), Nicholas Rachmadi (Triathlon) and Lincoln Forest Liqht Man (Gymnastics) inspired the student-athlete population on how they overcome distractions, fear and setbacks to achieve their sport dreams.

Wai Yhann gets nervous with spectators watching her play; Nicholas is fearful of getting into a bike crash while racing; Lincoln has suffered multiple injuries from falling. With grit and determination, they have overcome their fear and setbacks and are on their way to chasing a medal at the Philippines 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

Besides the three of them, there will be seven other IBDP student-athletes from Sports School representing Singapore at the 2019 SEA Games. Around 100 of Sports School’s past and present student-athletes will be representing Singapore at the 2019 SEA Games.

The Lessons From The Champions series was created to inspire and motivate student-athletes towards fulfilling their sport dreams. Sport champions and sport personalities are invited to share their stories of overcoming challenges to achieve their goals and provide practical tips on how to become a champion.
