The 2019 National School Games came to an official closure with the 49th Singapore School Sports Council (SSSC) Colours Award Presentation on 20 September. The award, comprised of three award categories – SSSC Best Sportsboy and Sportsgirl Award, SSSC Colours Award (Distinction) and SSSC Colours Award, was given to more than 8,700 students from secondary schools, junior colleges, and Millennia Institute in recognition of their sporting achievements and display of good sport character.

A total of 380 student-athletes received the SSSC Colours Award, with 11 student-athletes receiving the Best Sportsboy and Sportsgirl awards across seven sports at the 49th Singapore School Sports Council Colours Award Presentation and National School Games Closing Ceremony 2019. 64 student-athletes received the SSSC Colours Award (Distinction) and 305 student-athletes received the SSSC Colours Award from Principal Mr Tan Teck Hock at the school assembly on 25 September.

World No. 1 paddler for Boys Under 18 Koen Pang Yew En was one of Sports School's student-athletes who outshone his peers to win the Best Sportsboy award from SSSC. At the National Table Tennis Grand Finale in January, Koen scored a string of victories, including three titles in the Singles, Men’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles events. In July, Koen claimed 1 silver in Mixed Doubles, 2 bronzes in the Men’s Singles and Men’s Doubles at the 21st Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships held in India. He has also made history by being the first Singaporean to be ranked world’s No. 1 U18 table tennis player.
