From Girl To Woman: Charlene Wins Women's Open Title

2019 Malaysian International Open Bowling Championship

Two Singapore Sports School bowlers, Fion Liew Shan Ting and Charlene Lim Jia Yi flew the Singapore flag high at the 40th Malaysian International Open Bowling Championship 2019 held from 26 April to 4 May at the Sunway Mega Lanes in Petaling Jaya. Both of them had proven that doing well in both sports and studies is achievable.

Fion, a Year 2 student-athlete in Singapore Sports School's customised Diploma in Business Studies programme, knocked down 1,555 pinfalls over eight games to clinch a bronze medal in the Youth Girls Open Finals on 2 May.

On 4 May 2019, Charlene clinched the Women’s Open title after defeating South Korean Sung Gyong-eun with 191-166 in the stepladder finals. For Charlene, a final year student-athlete in the Diploma in Sports and Leisure Management programme, claiming the Women’s Open title was a testament that hard work pays off.
