Accolades For Koen, IZAAC

STTA Annual Awards Night 2019


Among his more notable achievements last year, Koen Pang Yew En made two 4th-place finishes at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Men’s Doubles and Men’s Team events. At the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games, Koen, 16, was a quarter-finalist in the Men’s Singles event. His medal haul in 2018 included 4 golds in the Junior Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Team events at the South East Asian Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championships and 3 gold and 1 silver medals at the Southeast Asian Table Tennis Championships. For these and more contributions to Singapore sport and advancement in table tennis, Koen was named by Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA) its Youth Player of the Year on 27 February 2019.

Secondary 1 student-athlete, Izaac Quek Yong had joined Singapore Sports School as a young achiever. He is the Southeast Asian Hopes and Asian Hopes Singles champion. STTA named him the STTA Hopes Player of the Year, the highest accolade for paddlers aged 12 years old and younger.
