Bowlers Spared No Nerves To Clinch Championship

Bowling 52nd Singapore Nationals & 7th National Youth Championships

It was a nail-biting neck-and-neck final in the Youth Boys category of the 52nd Singapore Nationals & 7th National Youth Championships 2022. In the 2-game grand final, student-athlete Joshua Gaza Soo Chak Kuen (Secondary 4) was evenly matched with his opponent Jevin Oh as they vied for the top spot of that category. After an intense exchange of pinfalls, Joshua pipped his opponent by a single pinfall, winning the finals with a total score of 392 pinfalls.

Also working her way to the Grand Final of the Youth Girls category was Mandy Koh Mun Leng (IBDP, Year 6). Mandy held her own and brushed aside the competition along the way to secure her place in the final where she outscored her opponent by 31 pinfalls, winning the 2-games final with a total score of 365 pinfalls.

Secondary 3 student-athletes Shannen Ong Yuan Lin and Hazel Tan Wei Ning also rolled excellent games to emerge 2nd and 3rd among the U16 Girls. The other podium finishes were clinched by our alumni Ashley Teoh Zi Ling, Russell Paul Lee Young Ern, Jovan Chua Min Han, Althea Dang Thanh Ly and Darren Ong Wei Siong.
