Bowlers Notch Wins At Asian and Local Competitions

34th Asian Intercity Bowling Championship


Our bowlers had a fruitful return from the 34th Asian Intercity Bowling Championship held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 3 to 10 February 2023. The team, comprised of bowlers from the National Training and National Development squads, took home a total of 9 medals (2 gold, 1 silver, 6 bronze).

Shirlene Wong Xue Lin, Jerlyn Lam Si Ting, Nur Irdina Hazly and Lim Shi En, who made up the Women’s Team, were impressive in the tournament and were eventually crowned the overall Women’s Team champion.

Irdina was the most decorated bowler in the Championship, clinching a total of 4 medals. This included a gold medal in the Singles event, a silver medal in the Masters event, a joint-bronze medal in the Doubles event with Shirlene, and a joint-bronze medal in the Team event.

Shi En was the other gold medallist who won Masters event. The Secondary 5 student-athlete also went on to clinch another joint-bronze medal in the Doubles event with Jerlyn, who is currently a Year 2 student-athlete in the Diploma in Business Studies programme.

Ryan Goi, who was in the Men’s Team, also did well by contributing 2 bronze medals in the Men’s Singles and Masters events.

Singapore Bowling Federation Primary and Secondary School League


Locally, our bowlers also showcased their skills at the Singapore Bowling Federation Primary and Secondary School League 2023 which attracted 276 bowlers in 76 teams. Over the competition held from 4 to 25 February 2023, Secondary 4 student-athlete Hazel Tan Wei Ning was crowned champion in the Secondary Division Masters (Girls) event with 1208 pinfalls, while Secondary 3 schoolmate Nura Salsabila Zulkifli finished third with 1183 pinfalls.

Meanwhile, the teams also finished strongly in the competition, with Bryant Ang Zhe Rui, Andre Chew Leong Joon and Rayden Lim Yi Sheng topping the leaderboard in first place, while Shannen Ong Yuan Lin, Victoria Leong Ai-Wen and Hazel Tan Wei Ning came in third place.
