Striking Off The Year On A High

52nd Singapore International Open and 22nd Storm U22 International Junior All-Stars Bowling Championships

It was a busy December for our bowlers with participation in two top competitions – 52nd Singapore International Open and 22nd Storm U22 International Junior All-Stars Bowling Championships in Kuala Lumpur.

Past and present student-athletes bowled it out in the 52nd Singapore International Open 2022 held from 3 to 17 December 2022. After rounds of intense match-ups, the better bowlers squared off in the finals to be crowned champions. Secondary 4 student-athlete Mathieu Louis played well in the U18 Division Boys Masters Finals. Mathieu kept his cool and defeated his opponent from Malaysia by 41 pinfalls.

In the Youth Boys Masters Finals, Josh Goh was competing in his first Step Ladder event. The Diploma in Business student-athlete came back after his first game to win his second game and edged out his opponent by a close 6 pinfalls. That victory secured Josh the first place in the Youth Boys Masters Finals.

Joining the list of winners were Nur Irdina Hazly and Lim Shi En. The Secondary 4 and 5 student-athletes’ exceptional performances saw them finish 1st and 3rd in the Youth Girls Masters Finals respectively. Secondary 3 student-athlete Nura Salsabila Zulkifli capped the list of outstanding bowlers and finished 2nd in the U16 Girls Masters Finals while alumna New Hui Fen capped a fine year with a 2nd place in the Women’s Open Division Master Finals.

Our bowlers continued their striking hot form and ended the year on a high at the 22nd Storm U22 International Junior All-Stars Bowling Championship held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Nura Salsabila Zulkifli carried forward her fine form from the previous competition and finished 2nd in the Girls’ U15 category. In the Boys’ Open category, recent alumnus Joshua Gaza Soo Chak Kuen bagged a cool RM $15,000 cash prize when he finished 2nd. Mandy Koh, who just graduated from IBDP, also kept pace with her competition and finished 3rd in the Girls’ Open category to walk away with RM $5,000.

Congratulations to all our bowlers we look forward to more of your successes next year!
